Chaylen received her bachelor's degree in Cell Biology and Biochemistry from Bucknell University in 2017. There, she worked in Dr. Mitchell Chernin’s laboratory where she investigated the prevention of bladder cancer progression via modulation of cell signaling pathways by heat shock protein inhibitors. She then came to Purdue in 2017 to join Dr. Dorothy Teegarden's laboratory within the Interdepartmental Nutrition Science Program. Her dissertation work in the field of cancer metabolism focused on the role of triacylglycerol and lipid droplet accumulation in promoting breast cancer progression to metastatic disease. Following the completion of her PhD in 2022, she joined the Bindley Bioscience Center Purdue Proteomics Core Facility as a Senior Research Associate.
