Hometown

I’m originally from Eustace, Texas. However, I moved to Evansville, Indiana in 2015, and just recently, in 2024, relocated to Lafayette.

Education

  • Associate of Arts, Tarrant County College
  • Bachelor of Science Interior Design, Art Institute
  • Texas Teaching License
  • Indiana Teaching License

Experience

After college, I worked in an interior design showroom in Houston, Texas and freelanced on my own for several years. When my children were a little older, I decided to enroll in the Texas Teachers Program and earn my middle school teaching license. I taught fifth through eighth graders reading, writing, and social studies in Texas and Indiana.

Advice for the Future Boilermaker

  • Call your parents, they miss you!
  • Join a student club or organization. You will find your people and it’s important to having a sense of belonging.
  • Develop good study and work habits right away. Getting into a routine and being diligent in your academic work first will allow for stress-free time you can spend on your social life.
  • Give yourself some grace - you're learning a new way of living!

Fun Facts

  • I love running and jogging! My friends and I compete in destination half marathon races every year. My favorite race (so far) has been the Big Sur in California . . .it has the most breathtaking scenery.
  • I have two children: one Purdue alumni and one current IU Hoosier. Sports rivalry is exciting in our house.
  • My husband and I met on a blind date in 1992 and have been together ever since.
