Bilingual Friends
Bilingual Friends is a new and engaging program from the LCC designed to provide Boilermakers with an interactive hour to practice and enhance their language skills (English or Spanish) through a variety of activities tailored to their interests and needs. Participants will be matched with a partner to help them strengthen their communication skills in their language of interest.
Partners will meet at the following times at the LCC for a planned activity:
- 5PM-6PM; Wednesday, October 30th (Meet and Match with Partner; Mandatory)
- 5PM-6PM; Wednesday, November 6th (Optional)
- 5PM-6PM; Wednesday, November 13th (Optional)
Participants are expected to exchange a 40-minute conversation (20 mins English/20mins Spanish) once a week. These interchanges can be face to face, virtually or using any other method of communication. The LCC will provide the facilities at the center for students to hold their sessions in a supportive and flexible environment should they choose to meet in person but are welcome to meet anywhere. Participants will be provided with a weekly conversation guide and could choose to follow it or go off topic.
Additionally, we will screen a movie featuring both languages, with subtitles, followed by a group discussion to explore the film’s themes and language nuances. Attendance is optional for the film screening.
Tuesday, November 5th; The Motorcycle Diaries, 5PM-7PM, Dinner will be served at this session
