Chemistry

Advanced Credit exams for Chemistry are offered at four times during the academic year: the beginning of the fall semester, in the middle of the fall semester, at the beginning of the spring semester and in the middle of the spring semester.

Exam Details

All Chemistry Advanced Credit Exams are delivered online via Brightspace. All answers must be submitted during the allotted test time. Scratch paper, pencils, and supporting information will be provided. Students must bring their own one- or two-line calculator.

  • CHM 11100 & CHM 11200:
    A single 2-hour exam consisting of approximately 60 multiple-choice questions.

  • CHM 115 & CHM 116:
    Exams for CHM 115 and CHM 116 consist of two parts:

    • Part 1: Lecture Exam
      50 numerical entry and multiple-choice questions (CHM 11510 or 11610)
      Time allowed: 2 hours

    • Part 2: Lab Exam
      10 numerical entry and multiple-choice questions (CHM 11520 or 11620)
      Time allowed: 30 minutes

      • Only accessible if the lecture exam is passed

      • Students may not take the lab exam without passing or being eligible for the lecture exam

      • The lab exam must be taken immediately after completing the lecture portion—no additional time is granted

Arrival & Exam Conduct

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in, store personal items, and receive instructions. No breaks are allowed once testing begins. Students who finish early may leave. If you complete the lecture portion of CHM 115 or CHM 116 early, you will begin the lab portion immediately.

Registration

Online registration is required, and students are encouraged to use the Advanced Credit Checklist attached to Form 231 to ensure that they have completed all registration steps. Walk-ins are not allowed. Please check your eligibility before registering.

Exam Fee

Please ensure you are ready and able to attend your appointment time. The Advanced Credit fee of $35 is non-refundable, and your invoice number will be associated with your appointment. If you do not show, cancel or reschedule your appointment, you agree to forfeit the fee.
