The Inspiring Leaps: Student Life Staff Awards are a University employee award program that recognizes outstanding employee contributions in the following areas:

  • Steps to Leaps
  • Inclusion & Belonging
  • Organizational and Operational Excellence

An employee can be nominated for any of the three areas within the Inspiring Leaps: Student Life Staff Award anytime throughout the calendar year. Nominations submitted will be valid for the entire calendar year. Preference will be given to nominations in that period. However, consideration will be given to previous nominations within a calendar year as the selection committee deems necessary. Other program components include:

  • An employee may receive one award per calendar year.
  • Award selections will happen three times in a calendar year.
  • One M/P and one support staff member will be selected each award period, with the possibility of a third winner for the "Excellence" award. The Excellence award will be given to an employee who has demonstrated all three areas at one time and has excelled in all areas.
  • Each award period winner(s) will receive $1000 and a certificate. The winner of the Excellence award will receive $1,500 and a plaque. Monetary awards will be "grossed up" so the winner receives the full dollar amount on their paycheck. Awards will be presented by the Vice Provost and the recipients' supervisors, and all winners will be featured in a video for the VPSL website and the State of the Division event.
  • Student Life Leadership will select award recipients from submitted nominations.

Program Criteria and Deadlines

All regular Student Life employees are eligible, including employees in areas that support Student Life such as the Business Office, HR and IT.

  • Student employees are not eligible for this award.
  • Employees may be nominated by a supervisor, co-worker, peer or student.
  • An employee must be in good standing to be eligible.
  • Those who report directly to the Vice Provost are not eligible.

Nomination deadlines are:

  • Spring — May 15
  • Summer — August 15
  • Fall — December 15
