Get ready for open enrollment 2023

Your annual opportunity to select your benefits will take place later this fall. The 2023 benefits open enrollment period is October 25 through November 8. Human Resources continues to send weekly emails on benefits-related topics to help you as you choose benefits for you and your family during open enrollment. The dedicated open enrollment website continues to be your go-to for all things open enrollment, including the 2023 benefits guide, which is now available. Information and resources will continue to be added to the website as it becomes available, so be sure to check back. During open enrollment, you are encouraged to review all benefits and actively enroll for 2023 benefits coverage. While several of your benefits will roll forward if you do not actively enroll, some benefits require you to provide additional information annually. This information includes completing the tobacco user certification, spousal coverage and contributions to be made to a medical savings account. More information will be shared up to and throughout the open enrollment time period.

Dial 988 for support for mental health crisis

As championed by the Healthy Boiler Program, everyone deserves access to the support they need, when they need it – and that includes mental health support. That’s why, as of July 16, 2022, anyone facing a mental health crisis can call 988 and get connected to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (also called the Lifeline).

The line is staffed with crisis counselors who are trained to understand exactly how callers are feeling and to pair them with resources that are specifically tailored to helping them meet the moment they’re in. This free and confidential resource was created to provide a direct connection to compassionate, accessible support 24/7 via an easy-to-remember, three-digit number.

Upcoming Healthy Boiler workshops

Staying active in cold weather, tobacco cessation and homemade gifts are topics of Healthy Boiler workshops being offered in the coming months. Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible faculty and staff and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan. Registration for workshops can be done via the Healthy Boiler Portal (unless otherwise noted). Registration link can be found under the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” section on the portal’s home page. Hover over the workshop’s square and hit “Submit” to register. See the full list of workshops on the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” web page.

Note: Fidelity, Purdue's official provider of education, guidance and assistance related to retirement plan investments and decisions, also offers Healthy Boiler workshops focused on financial wellness. These workshops also are available via the Healthy Boiler Workshops web page. Details are available via a link in the left-side navigation on the web page.

Take advantage of the additional ‘Wellness Benefit’ from Voya

As part of your Critical Illness Insurance, you can qualify for a “Wellness Benefit.” Voya will provide an annual benefit of $50 per calendar year for taking one of the eligible health screening/prevention measures. Voya will pay only one health screening benefit per covered person per calendar year. For example, annual physical exam, mammogram, colonoscopy, pap test, prostate exam, hemoglobin A1C, blood panel, etc. Information on eligible health screenings and how to file a claim can be found on the here.

Don’t forget, if you are participating in the 2022 Healthy Boiler Program to earn incentives and have already had your annual physical (and biometrics screening if desired) completed, you have already had a qualifying screening/prevention measure taken. If not, you can plan to earn both the Healthy Boiler incentive – complete steps by December 31, 2022 – and the Critical Illness Insurance Wellness Benefit in 2022.
