Dear Boilermaker, Purdue’s Orientation Programs team is here to help you experience a successful academic and social transition to Purdue! As a new student, you will be welcomed All Aboard Purdue via a four-step orientation process. Please read the following information carefully to learn more about our programs, some of which are required as part of your transition to Purdue. Be sure to mark your calendar with important dates and deadlines.

Step 1: Purdue 101 Purdue 101 is Purdue’s required online orientation program for all new undergraduate students. This program will focus on preparing you for your academic journey while at Purdue. This takes place in Brightspace, which is where you will find your course information each semester.
You will automatically be enrolled in the Purdue 101 module and can log into Brightspace to complete it as early as October 14. Make sure you plan accordingly to complete Purdue 101 and its important action items by December 2.

Step 2: Purdue Advising A few days after you complete Purdue 101 and its action items, you will receive an introductory email from an academic advisor about scheduling your first Purdue Advising appointment. During this meeting, you will plan for your first semester courses and start to understand how you will work toward completing your degree! Academic Advising appointments will begin as early as October 15 and will depend on when you complete Purdue 101. We encourage you to complete Purdue 101 and meet with your academic advisor as soon as possible, as Purdue University will be closed from December 23 through January 1 for Winter Recess. Late completion of Purdue 101 and course registration may result in a delay in receiving materials for your classes that begin on January 13.

Step 3: Purdue 102 Purdue 102 is the second required online orientation program for all new undergraduate students. This program will focus on preparing you for your social transition to campus and takes place in Brightspace as well.
You will be automatically enrolled in the Purdue 102 module and can log into Brightspace to complete this as early as December 16. Make sure you plan accordingly to complete Purdue 101 and its important action items by January 6.

Step 4: Purdue Welcome All new students are encouraged to participate in a Purdue Welcome program prior to the start of the spring semester. Most students will participate in Boiler Cold Rush (BCR). Boiler Cold Rush (BCR) is our welcome weekend program for all new undergraduate first-year and transfer students. BCR will take place on January 10 & 11, 2025, the weekend before classes begin. All new students are encouraged to participate! During BCR, you will learn about campus traditions, Purdue culture, and university resources. It's also a great way to make lasting friendships and learn how to be a successful Boilermaker while gaining direct guidance from current Purdue students. Transfer students will be placed with other new transfer students with similar journeys during the program to meet their unique needs.
- Registration for BCR opens on Oct. 14.
- There is a $150 fee to participate in BCR. This fee covers all meals and programming throughout the weekend.
- Students experiencing financial hardships can apply for a fee waiver to cover a portion or all of the program costs.
- You can register for BCR and find fee waiver information on your New Student Task List in your myPurdue portal.
