Cooperative Housing

Dear Purdue University Student Parent,

Congratulations of the success of your student and their achievements that are yet to come here at Purdue University. The Purdue Cooperative Council, made up of nearly 400 students in 11 houses, is actively seeking new members to join our community.  As your student has experienced, Purdue offers many opportunities for you to continue your education and grow as an individual. Cooperative Housing is a unique housing experience available here at the West Lafayette campus for students to engage and learn.

Purdue University offers three main types of housing: Cooperative Housing, Fraternity and Sorority Housing, and University Residences. We encourage your student to consider being a member of Cooperative Housing, where they will find a living experience that provides many benefits to its members. On a campus of over 40,000 undergraduate students, the Cooperative community provides a unique opportunity to be a part of a select group of 400 high achieving students.

The eleven cooperative houses on Purdue University’s West Lafayette campus average 30 residents each. Currently, there are seven women's houses and four men's houses. Members of Cooperative Housing share household responsibilities to maintain a comfortable living environment and reduce living costs. Cooperatives are the most economical form of living at Purdue. On average, cooperative housing offers an all-inclusive yearly costs range from $2,600 to $4,500.

Applications to apply for Cooperative Housing open Nov. 1st.

Here are a few unique facts about Cooperative Housing:

  • Cooperative students participate in many activities including intramural sports, social events with other organizations, formal dances, community service and philanthropy.
  • Students participating in Cooperative Housing are those that value community, building relationships, serve their fellow man/woman, and are lifelong learners and leaders.
