White River State Park Offers a Perfect Getaway for Spring Family Weekend
With more than 250 acres of greenspace just minutes from the Purdue University in Indianapolis campus, White River State Park is the perfect getaway to visit during Family Weekend on April 4-6. The park is home to seven world-class attractions, including the Eiteljorg Museum, Everwise Amphitheater, IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum, Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis Zoo, NCAA Hall of Champions, and Victory Field.
Purdue students receive free or discounted opportunities to several park attractions:
- Eiteljorg Museum - Free admission when showing their student ID
- IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum - $2 off price of admission with a valid student ID (must be redeemed in person)
- Indiana State Museum - $5 admission with a valid student ID. Faculty visiting with students also receive this discounted rate.
- NCAA Hall of Champions - Free admission for NCAA student-athletes
Families are also encouraged to take a walk along the Central Canal during their visit for a wonderful view of the city skyline. To learn more about Indy’s Backyard and events, concerts, and exhibits coming this year, visit WhiteRiverStatePark.org.

Purdue Parent & Family Connections invites you to join the Purdue Parent & Family Connections Portal.
This portal allows our Boilermaker Families to receive periodic news and updates according to personal preferences – weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or quarterly. Families will be able to view Purdue news and information specific to their Boilermaker’s journey all based on available communities. Families with students starting in the fall of 2025 are encouraged to join the families of the new beginner students' community.
As we transition to the use of the Purdue Parent & Family Connections Portal, we will continue to send this newsletter until May. Starting in June, future Parent & Family Connections information, Family Weekends and announcements will be sent only through the portal. If you have questions or are unsure about creating a portal account, do not worry — we’ve created an informational video.
Parent & Family Connections will continue to provide information, resources, tools and services using the portal to communicate. We work together with families to empower family members as partners in student success.
Thank you for supporting your student's academic journey. If you need support or are looking for resources, families can contact Parent & Family Connections at boilerfamily@purdue.edu or by calling us at (765) 496-0524 .

What is Purdue Day of Giving?
Purdue Day of Giving is a 24-hour online-based fundraising effort taking place on April 30, 2025. On this day, Purdue alumni, friends, faculty, staff, retirees, students, parents, and fans are encouraged to give back to the university—and small donations can make a big impact in helping Purdue transform lives and change the world.
Gifts can go even further through our hourly and full-day challenges, and any gift can help your favorite unit (such as Parent & Family Connections) claim the top spot on donation and participation leaderboards, which will win us bonus funds! More.
