Military Absence Policy
Those serving in the National Guard or reserves are often required to attend military training that might conflict with their ability to attend classes. The Military Absence Policy provides a formal process to request an absence of up to 15 days per academic year (link to the MAP University Regulation).
More InformationPrior to attending your training, individuals affected by this policy must:
- Inform your instructors at the beginning of the semester of the potential for mandatory military training conflicts
- Request an approved Military Absence and provide a copy of your orders or letter from your unit to the Office of the Dean of Students. More information can be found here.
- Make arrangements, before your absence, with all of your professors and instructors to determine how you can earn equivalent credit in order to demonstrate evidence of meeting the learning outcomes for missed assignments or assessments.
