8th Center for Analytical Instrumentation Development (CAID) Workshop... not just talking, but seeing and doing in small groups. 2015 MS in the Clinic and Surgery. Undergrads: September 13th @ 2pm - September 14th @ 4 pm. Profesisonal level: September 14th @ 2 pm - September 15th @ 5 pm. Location: Discovery, Learning, and Research Center, Purdue University, 207 S. Martin Jischke Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47907. No registration fee! Miniature mass spectrometer, Therapeutic drug monitoring, Microorganism identification, Point-of-care testing, Single cell analysis, Cancer diagnostics.

Demo Sessions

  1. Detection of strep throat causing bacterium and related Streptococcus species by swab touch spray mass spectrometry
  2. Rapid analysis of human brain cancer using tissue smears by desorption electrospray ionization – mass spectrometry 
  3. Point-of-care monitoring of therapeutic drugs by direct ionization and sampling methods using a miniature mass spectrometer
  4. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis by paper spray – mass spectrometry to support Parkinson's disease diagnosis
  5. Fundamentals of paper spray, inductive and relay electrospray
  6. Next generation blood sample preparation card for LC-MS-MS analysis
