Why Healthy Boiler?

The Healthy Boiler Wellness Program was introduced in January 2018 in response to significantly increasing healthcare costs and trends as a way to provide benefits-eligible employees and spouses covered on a Purdue health plan an opportunity to improve their health and wellness and earn financial incentives at the same time.

Today, the Program is a multi-faceted approach to overall well-being composed of five pillars. The Healthy Boiler Program provides care in each area by offering cost-controlled benefits and easily accessible resources that help Purdue employees (and their families) across all campuses transform their lives into the healthiest, happiest versions possible. Through each of the pillars, the Healthy Boiler Program:

The Healthy Boiler Incentive Program is back for 2025 and runs from Jan. 1 – Dec. 31, 2025.
All benefit-eligible employees have several opportunities to earn incentives, which are deposited into their HSA or HRA to help pay for healthcare expenses.

In 2025, funds can be earned through a variety of steps – Step 1 (completing your annual physical) must be completed before payment for other objectives will be paid; however, you may complete the steps in whatever order works best for you. Employees also have the option of completing additional steps to increase the incentive payment.

This year, the available incentive has increased by $100 for both employees and spouses to help offset premium increases. Amount awarded is based on coverage level elected within a Purdue medical plan:

  • Employee Only (incentive max $550)
  • Employee + Spouse and Employee + Family levels – both employee and spouse may earn independent of the other. (Incentive max $1,100 – if both complete all challenges)
  • Employee + Children – only the employee needs to complete the activity to earn amounts. (Incentive max $1,100)
  • Employees who opt-out may earn employee only amounts (Incentive max $550)
See the Earn Incentives web page for details.

The portal is accessible at https://purdue.wellright.com. Employees and covered spouses will need to register to access the site. Please note: employees must register and login first in order to allow spousal access to the site. Spouses must register separately in order to manage activity and receive the incentives. Benefit-eligible employees who are spouse opt-outs are considered spouses and should register under their spouse. See the 2025 Healthy Boiler Guide for more information or visit the web page.
