The university will be open during the Winter Session 2025 on the following days with normal business operations:

  • Monday, Dec. 22 to Tuesday, Dec 23
  • Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 to Friday, Jan. 9, 2026

Many faculty and staff will be on Winter Recess from Wednesday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 4, and the University will be closed during this time. Please review the information below to learn about the resources available to faculty, staff, and students for questions about Winter Session coursework during Winter Recess.

  • For emergencies in Indianapolis, students on-campus can contact IUPD by calling 911 or (317)274-7911. Students living at Lux on Capitol can contact IMPD by calling 911.

Mental Health & Wellness

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) 

CAPS provides confidential mental health support to Purdue students through a multidisciplinary team of professionals—all services are designed to meet the diverse needs of students. CAPS offers flexible, same-day, or next-day care with no predefined session limits, and most services are free.

During university closures from Wednesday, Dec. 24 to Sunday, Jan 4., 24/7 crisis services remain available by calling (765) 494-6995. CAPS operates on both the West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses, offering on-site support when open.

Students, faculty, and staff have 24/7 access to Therapy Assistance Online (TAO), a web and app-based mental health resource provided by CAPS. TAO offers free, confidential, self-guided programs designed to help manage anxiety, depression, and other concerns. It features short videos, exercises, and self-reflection tools based on psychotherapy research. Users can create an account on the TAO Connect website or download the app via the App Store or Google Play.

If you find yourself struggling to find a healthy balance between academics, social life, stress, etc., sign up for free one-on-one virtual sessions with a Purdue Wellness Coach at RecWell. Student coaches can help you navigate through barriers and challenges toward your goals throughout the session. Sign up is free and can be done on BoilerConnect.   

RecWell Winter Hours
RecWell will operate on adjusted winter hours from Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, through Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026. Please note that RecWell will be closed from December 24 through January 4. Please visit the  RecWell website for the most up-to-date information on facility hours and programming during the winter holiday.
