SPRING 2025 LEADERSHIP AND COACHING WORKSHOP SERIES: EQUIPPING AND SUPPORTING OTHERS AT WORK
The Butler Center is committed to providing mentoring and leadership resources and fostering a positive culture of collective excellence, authenticity, and humility. We have invited distinguished speakers from outside of Purdue to lead four different workshops in the spring 2025 semester, focused on several key mentoring and leadership skills: Listening, Emotional Labor, Giving and Receiving Help, and Storytelling.
The CON Artist’s Guide to Effective Listening by Dr. Shonna Waters

This interactive workshop will introduce participants to a new kind of "CON" artist: one who embraces curiosity, openness, and nonjudgment to become a more effective listener. Drawing on the principles of effective coaching, participants will learn how to move beyond "listening to respond” and develop deeper listening skills that enhance communication and understanding in academic and professional settings.
