BGRi Schedule
This year, Boiler Gold Rush International 2024 will take place from Aug. 10-12, 2024.
In order to help ensure a safe environment for all students/families, incoming students will be assigned a specific time slot during which they may move in. BGRi students will receive their move-in time slot around July 15. Please continue to monitor your Purdue email for more details on this process.
BGRi 2024 Schedule
BGRi events are intended to support student’s transitional needs as an international student, meaning helping them acquire everyday essentials for their living space, setting up a bank account or cellular sim card, and generally settling into the U.S. and Purdue culture prior to their domestic peers arrival. We discuss topics such as culture shock, academic success in the united states, and getting involved in multicultural organizations.
The full BGRi 2024 schedule is not yet finalized, but students may expect to see some events such as:
- Move-in & Check-in: Students living on campus will move-in to their assigned residence hall at their assigned move-in time in early August. For move-in information, please visit the Purdue University Residences website. Students and their families will go to the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center (Co-Rec) to check-in for BGRi and BGR and receive their University Residences room key and information. They will then move in to their residence hall.
- BGRi Opening Ceremony: New international students and families will participate in the official welcome to their BGRi experience.
- Navigating Culture Shock: Students will learn strategies to combat the stages of culture shock, and discuss how to successfully navigate a new environment.
- Academic Success 101: Students will learn about the ins and outs of academic expectations, general terminology, and tips to navigating a successful academic life at Purdue.
- International Students & Scholars: International students will connect with the International Students & Scholars office and learn about their services and programs for the Purdue international student community.
- PASE Boilermaker Cookout: International students and their families are invited to attend a traditional American cookout on Slayter Hill.
