Martia King
Director of Student Involvement in the Student Activities and Organizations Office
Martia Brawner King serves as the director of student involvement in the Student Activities and Organizations office. The office supports individual students in getting involved, guiding student organizations, and collaborating with various campus partners. King directly advises the Purdue Student Government and the Student Fee Advisory Board, actively engaging with students, advocating for students and ensuring they have the resources to be successful.
King has more than 17 years of experience in student involvement and engagement. Prior to coming to Purdue in 2007, she served as the director of student activities at the University of Charleston, in Charleston, West Virginia. Her portfolio included new student orientation, diversity and inclusion, student organizations and programming.
King earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies from Bowling Green State University, a Master’s of Education in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Wright State University, and a doctorate in higher education leadership from Indiana State University.
