Mike Warren
Director of Recreation & Wellness
Mike Warren proudly serves as director of Purdue Recreation & Wellness (RecWell). In this role, he provides strategic oversight and manages departmental programs, services and facilities at RecWell. Warren's strengths include leadership, vision, strategic planning and interacting with people.
Warren oversees diverse, innovative, inclusive, educational and accessible programs and facilities that include more than 435,000 square feet of indoor space, two 35-acre field complexes and an indoor turf facility. He leads a professional staff of more than 55 staff and more than 800 student employees, making RecWell the second-largest student employer on campus.
Warren earned bachelor's degrees in administrative justice and recreation at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He earned a master's in education, recreational and leisure studies from Bowling Green State University.
Prior to coming to Purdue, Warren demonstrated impressive work experience at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he passed the largest referendum in the school’s history at a staggering $236 million. He took a lead role in the design and construction of a $6.7 million outdoor turf complex and a $94 million recreation facility on campus.
Warren is an active member and presenter in campus recreation professional organizations. During his free time, he enjoys being with his family. When he is not cheering on or coaching his three kids in their favorite sports, Warren is active himself, playing pickleball, officiating sports and training for Spartan races.
