Parking permits for the 2023-2024 academic year expired on June 30. Information about parking permits for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year is outlined below.
Faculty/Staff
Parking permit sales for the 2024-2025 academic year went on sale on June 17. Full payments or recurring monthly or bi-weekly payments are available. Payroll deduction is not offered. More information about permits for faculty and staff was sent through email in mid-June.
Parking permit reciprocity for individuals who are working at both locations is available for the 2024-2025 academic year. Individuals should purchase a permit through the location assigned as their primary location by Human Resources. Either parking office can confirm a classification if needed.
IU Indianapolis faculty and staff parking permits will be accepted in "A" surface lots and non-gated parking garages at the West Lafayette location. Refer to the downloadable parking map (PDF) for eligible spots. IU Indianapolis parking permits will not be accepted in the gated parking garages or other locations. Additional details are available below under the Reciprocity headings.
Students
Parking permits for students for the 2024-2025 academic year will go on sale Aug. 1. Full payments or billing through the Bursar's Office will be available. More information will be sent through email closer to the permit sale date.
Purdue students in Indianapolis have reciprocity with parking at the West Lafayette location with no additional action needed after purchasing an IU Indianapolis permit. Permits will be accepted in "C" permit parking lots, shown on the downloadable parking map (PDF). Please refer to the information in the next sections about Reciprocity for more information.
At this time, students in West Lafayette do not have parking reciprocity at the Indianapolis location. Free shuttles between West Lafayette and Indianapolis will be available beginning for the fall 2024 semester to assist with travel and parking needs between locations.
Reciprocity: Indianapolis as primary location
After purchasing an IU Indianapolis parking permit, faculty, staff and students who will also be working or attending classes at the West Lafayette location do not need to take further steps to ensure West Lafayette parking eligibility. IU Indianapolis parking permits that are displayed correctly and in eligible locations will automatically be accepted by West Lafayette parking enforcement staff.

Reciprocity: West Lafayette as primary location
West Lafayette (WL) faculty and staff must have a valid WL parking permit to be eligible for reciprocity. Faculty and staff may purchase a permit through Purdue's parking portal, then contact Purdue Parking at 765-494-9497 or parking@purdue.edu to also request an IU Indianapolis permit. Please see below to learn more about the types of permits available.
Regular Business at IUI Campus: WL faculty and staff should contact Purdue Parking if they have a regular business need at the Indianapolis campus. Parking staff will then work with IU to obtain an annual parking permit for the employee at no additional charge. Employees will be issued an Employee Surface Lot Permit (EM), which will allow parking in EM, ST and NC surface spaces.
Infrequent Business at IUI Campus: WL faculty and staff should contact Purdue Parking and let them know which day(s) they will be at the Indianapolis campus. Parking staff will provide a temporary visitor permit. Employees will be issued a temporary Employee Surface Lot Permit (EM), which will allow parking in EM, ST and NC surface spaces.
Based on preference, reciprocity permits will be eligible to be picked up at the IUI Parking and Transportation Services office, Purdue Parking office or can be mailed through campus mail.
The West Lafayette location uses virtual parking permits with license plate recognition while the Indianapolis location uses physical parking permits for enforcement.
At this time, students in West Lafayette do not have parking reciprocity at the Indianapolis location.
