FSCL Island Parking

City of West Lafayette Parking Changes

Street parking in the "Island" – which includes spaces between Mitch Daniels Boulevard and Stadium Avenue and between Russell and University streets – is owned, managed and enforced by the City of West Lafayette. As part of a larger parking plan, the city is converting parking spaces within the bounds above from no permit required to pay-by-phone ("metered") ParkMobile spaces, effective July 28, 2025.

Purdue Parking Options

The university is offering support to houses and residents affected by the City of West Lafayette's new parking plan with several options.

Value Parking

All Purdue-student Island residents are eligible to request a new Value permit, available for $75 annually through Purdue’s online parking portal. These permits are valid at either 2550 Northwestern Avenue or the east Purdue University Airport gravel lot (sold out for 2025-26), both of which allow overnight parking. Free on-campus transit service will run during the academic year between these lots and select academic campus locations—with two Island stops—to help residents travel between destinations.

FSCL-Reserved Parking

Each Island house may choose up to five FSCL-Reserved permits or reserved parking spaces. This approach will provide up to 120 reserved spots across FSCL compared to 60 last year. Houses must decide whether these will be assigned to individuals or shared among residents—options are detailed below. By July 31, selections must be submitted to Parking Operations at parking@purdue.edu. Each reserved permit or space costs $1,000 per year, the same rate as in previous years, and overnight parking is allowed with either option.

Option 1: Individual Use

  • Houses can select up to five individuals for an FSCL-Reserved permit. This permit will be tied to an individual’s license plate and will allow for parking in a dedicated parking space located within the spaces shown on the map below.
  • These spaces will be signed and enforced by Parking Operations.

Option 2: Shared House Use

  • Houses can reserve up to five FSCL-Reserved parking spaces to be rotated among members of the chapter. Parking spaces will be designated by a sign that includes the house name and will be located within the spaces shown on the map below.
  • Since parking spaces will not be assigned to one individual or tied to a particular vehicle's license plate with this option, Parking Operations is unable to automatically enforce parking. Houses must notify Parking Operations when an ineligible vehicle is parked in an FSCL-Reserved space.

Houses may also decide to split up to five reserved parking spots between options 1 and 2. For example, a house may opt to purchase FSCL-Reserved permits for two members of the executive team while also claiming up to three shared spaces.
