Sport Challenge Rules

Badminton

The system governing challenge play begins when all involved priority courts are occupied by singles or doubles players who are present and ready to play.  Challenge play ends when one or more courts are not occupied.

  • First Come, First Served
    • The first player(s) waiting at one of the courts will automatically have the next game.  It is the responsibility of the waiting player(s) to register a challenge
  • Games to 21
    • At the time of the challenge, the players on that court will finish the game/match they are on.  At the conclusion of the game/match underway, the challengers take the court and games to 21 become the rule of play.  The first player/team to 21 is the winner and has the right to retain the court.  At the completion of the set the losing player or doubles players will give up the court and the challenging player(s) will take their place
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a singles player or doubles team wins three set in a row they must rotate out
Basketball

The system of governing challenge full court basketball play begins automatically when the basketball court becomes occupied by two teams of five participants present and ready for play (gym shoes) who have made the challenge

  • First Come, First Served
    • The first five waiting at the court will automatically have the next game.  If less than five are waiting to play, members from the losing team or from another court's losing team or those waiting, may play.  When the challenge system is in effect and a participating team's number of players drops below five, the remaining members may continue to play to the end of the 15-basket game with or without adding members to their team
  • No Half Court
    • No half court basketball if 10 participants are present and indicate they want to play full court
  • Games to 15 Only
    • At the time of challenge, the two teams of five participants on the court will begin a game of 15 baskets.  The first team to score 15 baskets is the winner.  At the completion of the 15-basket game, the losing team will give up the court and the challenging five will take their place.  If, at the end of the game, one or more members of the winning team are unable to continue play, the remaining member(s) of the winning team, to hold the court, must fill their vacancies only from the members of the losing team.  If they are unable to fill their vacancies from the members of the losing team, and there are two complete teams of five participants waiting and ready to play in the challenge order, the first two teams waiting have the right to the court
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a team wins three games in a row, they must rotate out

The intent of the system governing challenge full court basketball is to promote equal participation.  Violation of the above system/procedure will result in disciplinary action.

Racquetball

The system governing challenge play begins when all Racquetball designated courts and all Open Courts are occupied by singles or doubles players who are present and ready to play.  Challenge can occur when there are two players ready to play and challenge play ends when one or more courts are not occupied

  • First Come, First Served
    • The first player(s) waiting at one of the courts will automatically have the next game.  It is the responsibility of the waiting player(s) to register a challenge
  • Games to 15, best of 3
    • At the time of challenge, the players on that court will finish the game/match they are on.  At the conclusion of the game/match underway, the challengers take the court and games to 15 become the rule of play.  The first player/team to win best of 3 games is the winner and has the right to retain the court.  Player/team must win by two points, or first to reach 18
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a player/team wins three matches in a row they must rotate out
Squash

The system governing challenge play begins when all squash designated courts and all open (squash conversion) courts are occupied by singles or doubles players who are present and ready to play.  Challenge can occur when there are two players ready to play and challenge play ends when one or more courts are not occupied

  • First Come, First Served
    • The first player(s) waiting at one of the courts will automatically have the next game.  It is the responsibility of the waiting player(s) to register a challenge
  • Games to 15, best of 3
    • At the time of challenge, the players on that court will finish the game/match they are on.  At the conclusion of the game/match underway, the challengers take the court and games to 15 become the rule of play.  The first player/team to win best of 3 games is the winner and has the right to retain the court.  Player/team must win my two point, or the first to reach 18
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a player/team wins three matches in a row they must rotate out
TREC Soccer

The system governing challenge play begins when the TREC is occupied and players (of the same sport) are present and ready to play.  Challenge play can occur when there are six players ready to play and challenge play ends when the field is unoccupied or teams drop below six players

  • First Come, First Served
    • The first team waiting at one of the fields will automatically have the next game.  It is the responsibility of the waiting team to register a challenge
  • Two Goals or 7 Minutes
    • At the time of challenge, the players on that field will finish the game they are on.  At the conclusion of the game underway, or after two goals or 7 minute games become the rule of play.  If, at the end of the game, one or more members of the winning team are unable to continue play, the remaining member(s) of the winning team, to hold the field, must fill their vacancies.  If they are unable to fill their vacancies and two complete teams of six players are waiting and ready to play in the challenge order, the first two teams waiting have the right to the field
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a team wins three games in a row they must rotate out
Volleyball

The system governing challenge play begins when all priority courts are occupied by volleyball players/games.  Challenge play ends when one or more courts are not occupied

  • First Come, First Served
    • The first player(s) waiting at one of the courts will automatically have the next game.  It is the responsibility of the waiting player(s) to register a challenge
  • Games to 25
    • At the time of the challenge, the players on that court will finish the game/match they are on.  At the conclusion of the game/match underway, the challengers take the court and games to 25 become the rule of play.  The first player/team to 25 is the winner and has the right to retain the court.  At the completion of the game the losing team will give up the court and the challenging team will take their place
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a team wins three games in a row they must rotate out
Wallyball
The system governing challenge play begins when all wallyball designated courts and all open (squash convertible) courts are occupied by singles or doubles players who are present and ready to play.  Challenge can occur when there are two players ready to play and challenge play ends when one or more courts are not occupied.
  • First Come, First Served
    • The first player(s) waiting at one of the courts will automatically have the next game.  It is the responsibility of the waiting player(s) to register a challenge
  • Best of 3
    • At the time of challenge, the players on that court will finish the game/match they are on.  At the conclusion of the game/match underway, the challengers take the court and games of challenge become the rule of play.  The first and second games are played to 25 and the third is played to 15.  The first player/team to win best of 3 games is the winner and has the right to retain the court. Player/team must win by two points, or first reach 30 in the first and second games and 18 in the third game
  • Three Wins Only
    • After a player/team wins three matches in a row they must rotate out
